Get a Library Card

Anyone who lives, works, or attends a school in Narita City or who lives in surrounding area, can get a library card. Please apply at the service counter, along with your identification that shows your name, date of birth, and current address. Our library card is valid at any library within the Narita city. And the library card must be renewed every five years.
Please also notify the service counter when there is any change of registered information.

What you need to apply for a Narita city library card

Residents in Narita City

Identification of your current address (driver's license, My number card, student ID, etc.).

Workers and Students in Narita City

Identification of your current address and identification of your company or school (employee ID, student ID,etc.).

Residents outside of Narita City (Tomisato and Inzai City or Sakae, Shisui, Shibayama, Kozaki, and Tako Town), and must be over-16-years-old or high school students.

Identification of your current address and library card at your residing municipality.

Borrowing Materials

You can borrow the materials by using the self-checkout machine or at the counter. The loan period is two weeks. If there is no reservation for the material, you can extend the loan period once. The extension is not available for audio-visual materials.

Residents, Workers and Students in Narita City

Those who live in or commute to Narita city may borrow up to ten items in total, and up to two CDs/cassette tapes in total, or a video tape or DVD.

Residents outside of Narita City

Those who live in outside of Narita city may borrow up to three Books and Magazines.

Returning materials

Please bring them to the return counter or use the automatic machine. You can return the materials at any libraries in Narita city. And also, you can return the materials to the book drop (located at the Central Library, at Kozunomori Branch, and at the Community Center of Narita, Tamatsukuri, Toyama, Taiei, or in the Narita City Hall, and Narita station).
Please do not return the following items into a book drop: picture cards, large-size books, CDs, DVDs, cassette tapes, video tapes, and books/magazines with an attached CD, CD-ROM and books/magazines lent by libraries in other municipalities.

Reference Service

Please ask at the reference counter if you cannot find materials or have anything to research. We can help you to find what you need. You can also contact us by phone, post, or e-mail.

Reservation Service

When the materials cannot be found (on the shelves), please use the reservation service. This reservation service is only available to residents, workers, or students in Narita city. If you have further questions about the materials what you need, please feel free to ask to our library.

Copy Service

Copies of the library materials are permitted within the scope of the Copyright Act (paid).

PC seats and Online Databases

Access to the Internet (Central Library 1st floor and Kozunomori Branch), databases and stand-alone PCs (Central Library 2nd floor) are available. Please make an appointment for a seat through the reservation system in the library, or on our home page.
You need to get our library card or present some identification at the service counter for application.

E-book service

We have started the online E-book service to read materials using your favorite device.
E-book service is only available to residents, workers, or students in Narita city. You will need a password for the MY PAGE service, which is issued at the service counter.

Service for Children

We hold storytelling events for children who can listen alone.

  • Central Library / Every Saturday 11:00AM

  • Kozunomori Branch / The 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month 3:00PM

Also, we hold events for infants up to three years old listen with their parents.

Damages or loss of library materials

Materials in our library are for public use.
In the event of staining, damaging, or loss of library materials, you may be liable for compensation.
